"There's a girl in the garden"
Ed to Shaun, referring to Mary

Mary was a cashier at a supermarket. She is first seen in the intro to Shaun of the Dead. Later, during Z-Day, she is the first zombie that Shaun and Ed encounter. When Shaun comes back from the shop,ed states that there is someone in the garden. They both look and see an undead Mary facing backwards. They call out to her and Ed throws a rock at her. She turns around and the two mistake her of being drunk. Mary tackles Shaun to the ground but Ed pulls her off after taking a photo. Shaun then pushes her into a pole, impaling her in the stomach. Much to their dismay, she gets up. Later, after learning how to kill the zombies, Shaun and Ed throw random objects at her and another zombie, unsuccessfully killing her. Eventually Shaun gets a cricket bat and bashes her in the head several times, killing her

Death:

After the outbreak, Mary was killed by zombies and reanimated. Later, she is bashed brutally by Shaun
