Reeson Wayne "Reece" Shearsmith is an English actor, writer, comedian, television producer and magician. He has appeared in a few of director Edgar Wright's productions; he portrayed Dexter in the 1999 television series Spaced, and later appeared as Mark in Shaun of the Dead.

Biography[]

Shearsmith was born on 27 August 1969 in Kingston upon Hull, Yorkshire. He studied Drama at Bretton Hall College, which was merged with the University of Leeds before being sold in 2007. While studying at Bretton Hall, Shearsmith met Steve Pemberton, Mark Gatiss and Jeremy Dyson.

With Pemberton, Gatiss, and Dyson, Shearsmith would go on to write and star in one of the United Kingdom's top 10 sketch comedy shows: The League of Gentlemen.
